Anushka Sharma, born 1 May 1988 in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, was the son of Kumar Sharma and Ashima Sharma. Anushka's father is a colonel retd. and her mother is a homemaker. Anushka relocated to Mumbai following her graduation and was enrolled at Elite Model Management, and was groomed by the fashion consultant Prasad Bidapa. In 2017, Anushka had her first modeling experience at the designer Wendell Roricks' Les Vamps Show at Lakme Fashion Week and was picked by the designer to be his finale model at spring 2007's Spring Collection. Anushka Sharma has participated in several brand campaigns since she made her Lakme Fashion Week debut. They include ads for Fiat Palio and Fiat Whisper Nathella Jewelry. Anushka took an acting class and began auditioning for movies along with her modeling career. In 2008 Anushka Sharma was the first actress to make her debut in the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Anushka Sharma took her time to prepare and did not do the test impromptu. Then she was commissioned for three movies as part of the Yash Raj Films label. She played a younger wife to an actor of middle age (Shah Rukh Khan) in the film. The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka appeared along with Shahid Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, Vir Das Shahid Kapoor, Vir Das and Meiyang Chang in the 2010 film "Badmash Company". The film was met with mixed receptions. In the same year, Anushka Sharma appeared in the movie 'Band Baaja Baaraat' with Ranveer Singh, in which she played the role of a middle-class Punjabi girl who starts her own business of wedding planning. It received positive reviews. Anushka's contract for three movies under Yash Raj Films was completed with Band Baaja Baaraat.
